Abbadia San Salvatore

A famous holiday place in the district of Monte Amiata, i is also popular for winter tourism. Its name comes from the Benedectine abbey, its original nucleus. Among the most important centres of the mining district for its mercury mines, which operated until the 1970s, Abbadia opened the Mining Museum of Amaiata in May 2000, set up inside the Clock Tower.
