A coastal part of Massa, Marina grew up around the mouth of the Frigido River. Today it stretches out on a 10 km sandy shore that provides seaside services, reaching to the mouth of the Cinquale. Among the best known seafront towns of the Apuana coast, its centre developed around the main square (a park) and the modern landing station perfect for taking strolls. The modern part of the city extends to the Cinquale, meeting up with the towns of Ronchi and Poveromo.
