An agricultural and industrial community, on the hills between Val d'Elsa and Val di Pesa. The town holds the ancient city walls, which enclose Palazzo Pretorio (15th century), Palazzo Da Barberino and the Pellegrini hospital. The municipality is also home to many Etruscan and Roman tombs, and the church of santo Stefano, the former Villa Torrigiani (15th century), the parish church of San Bernardo, the church of San Appiano (12th-13th centuries).
