Bibbiena

An important town of the Casentino, located on a hillside near the confluence of the Archiano and Arno Rivers. Most likely an Etruscan settlement originally called Vipena, Bibbiena was ruled by the Arezzo episcopate in the middle ages and was enfeoffed to the Tarlats, passing under the rule of Florence. Among the buildings of architectural and artistic value is the 15th-century church of San Lorenzo, the Dovizi Palace and the 19th-century Dovizi theater.
Province: Arezzo. Alt.: 425 m -  Inhab.: 11997.
