Le Calanchiole

This campground is located in a panoramic position in the village of Calanchiole, directly facing the sea of the vast Stella Bay. The facility is situated just three kilometres from the residential areas of Capoliveri and Porto Azzurro, but one can reach the capital city of Portoferraio in just half an hour.

Its excellent location and proximity to the sea are enhanced by the surrounding tall pine tree forest which provides pleasant shade, even in the summer, and a particularly mild climate.

In a large park overlooking the sea, the campground offers an impressive 274 shaded pitches, equipped with power outlets, parking lot in the grounds and wash room facilities with hot water.
The facility also has apartments available in the “Villa Angelica” complex, and rents out caravans and bungalow-chalets.

What to do

There are five-a-side football courts and basket ball courts inside the campground. There is also a pier available to dock and embark small crafts, and a diving centre for scuba diving.

The beach that the campground faces offers beach chair, sun bed and umbrella rental, but it is also possible to travel just a few kilometres to visit a different beach every day.

Right next to the campground, less than one kilometre away, there are tennis courts and stables.

The campground also offers the possibility of participating in various trips that can be booked at the Front Desk, to learn more about either inland Elba island or the other islands in the Tuscan archipelago.

Everyone's holidays at “Calanchiole” are made more enjoyable by our entertainment team which proposes tournaments, games, water aerobics and group dancing; in the evenings this team organises theme nights, group dancing and cabaret shows.

It is possible to book Ayurvedic and shiatsu massages on Sundays during the high season.

To See

It is well worth a visit to the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, just outside Capoliveri, and the many exquisite medieval churches in the district, including the remarkable 12th century San Michele church.

It is also interesting to visit the Forts of Longone and Focardo that rise up in front of each other creating a barrage.

Do not miss out on a visit to the metalliferous mines that have been an irreplaceable resource for the inhabitants of Elba Island for centuries: particularly impressive is the open air mine of Calamita and the one in Ginevro, which has a tunnel leading underground.
